Oil-Only Polypropylene Socks contain and soak up petroleum-based fluids fast while repelling water.
- Absorb Oils, Repel Water — By selectively absorbing petroleum-based liquids and not water, these Socks take in more oil and can be left on the job longer. They also float for cleanup of waterborne hydrocarbons.
- Contain and Soak Up Leaks or Spills — Ideal for surrounding spilled fluids or wrapping around leaky machines. Easy and convenient to put into place. Contain spills to keep fluids from spreading into larger areas and becoming slippery hazards. Flexible to conform around machine bases and offer a snug fit with no seepage.
- Color-Coded — Color-coding helps you visually identify the right sorbent for your needs. White designates Oil-Only sorbency and makes it easy to identify when saturated.
Regulations and Compliance
- Under an OSHA requirement, "DOT-specified salvage drums or containers and suitable quantities of proper absorbents shall be kept available and used in areas where spills, leaks, or ruptures may occur."
- Facilities must have "appropriate containment and/or diversionary structures.
- In the event of a spill, transporters must, "take appropriate immediate action to protect human health and the environment."
- Transporters, "must clean up any hazardous waste discharge that occurs during transportation…so that the hazardous waste discharge no longer presents a hazard to human health or the environment."
-The area between a container and a salvage drum used for overpacking must have "sufficient cushioning and absorption material to prevent excessive movement of the damaged package and to eliminate the presence of any free liquid at the time the salvage drum is closed."

How to Use SpillTech Socks:
Step 1: Clean all loose sorbents, rags and other debris from the area.
Step 2: Place a SpillTech absorbent sock around the problem area. Watch as it pulls in liquids to center of sock.
Step 3: When the sock is fully saturated, simply pick it up and dispose of it. You’ll know when it’s fully saturated when you see liquids puddling around or passing underneath the sock. Don’t forget to replace it with a fresh SpillTech sock.
Helpful Hints: • Before placing socks, it helps to hold the sock at each end and shake filler until it is even. • For best results, do not stacks sock on top of loose absorbents or each other. • When using more than one sock to surround a problem area, make sure you overlap the edges by 3 inches. This will prevent leaking between the socks.
